Birthday in Bali

Paul arranged a break from our budget backpacking itinerary and booked us at a wonderful hotel for my birthday. Until he told the cab driver where to take us, it was a surprise - the 4 Seasons! Paul told them it was my birthday, so as we sipped our welcome fruit juice in the panoramic bar, they informed us that they upgraded us to a suite. We had: bedroom, outdoor living room, outdoor dining room, outdoor shower, huge bathroom, our own POOL and a kimodo lizard in the back yard. It was beyond stunning! So nice, in fact, that we had dinner in our room. They arranged a fabulous dinner for us of Balinese specialties complete with candles everywhere and a beautiful flowers. They also had a Balinese dance show which was different from the one we saw the other day. It was great and we were just 10 feet away from the dancers.

It was a wonderful day! Now tomorrow we're heading to Gili Air, a tiny island. It is famous for excellent snorkeling and scuba diving. It has no motorized vehicles at all, and you can walk around the whole island in little over an hour. Back to the budget!
